Inertia and the myth that staying home is okay.

March 31, 2009

superman20on20couch

Recently I invited several local folks who seem to have some of the same concerns about economic and political developments to a couple of local events that address such concerns with the idea that those involved would do something about it.  These have ranged from attending local school board meetings to attending a meeting to plan for an upcoming tax protest.

The response has been virtually non-existent.

What is this?  Some kind of bunker mentality?  If I don’t look at it, it will just go away?  I’m better off not getting involved?  Fewer bad things will happen if I just stay home and watch TV and let others do what needs to be done?  I really wonder sometimes.

Most of us are familiar with the concept of inertia and that is the property of matter by which it remains at rest or in uniform motion in the same straight line unless acted upon by some external force.  So we have the issue of our own inertia which is indeed unfortunate and then the inertia of the economic and political situation which is quite evident unless you only tend to expose yourself to the cartoon channel.  Even there you might get a clue.

The straight line that we are seeing right now points to an economic collapse and a wholesale effort on the part of national and local governments to create a fascist police state.  Yeah, that means a boot on your neck and a pretty bleak future for your kids and anyone else who plans on living over the next few years.

This isn’t going away.  This isn’t going to get better and it is probably more rational to believe that no one is going to intervene on your behalf just because you’re a nice person.

I certainly don’t expect everyone I invite to respond.  I think that many people are doing something to improve the situation in their own way and they certainly don’t need to tell me anything about it, but I suspect more are just doing what they usually do and that is nothing.   Many of these people will have the opportunity at some point in the future to wonder about whether they could’ve done something to prevent what happened to them or someone they love.  They will have only themselves to blame and it will be a sad day.

Doing something, protesting, alerting you neighbors or whatever does not necessarily mean that we will be able to turn things around, but it is far preferable to sitting on your backside.  We have history as our great teacher.  Teacher tells us that inertia is a law and that staying home is probably not okay.

mad-as-hell1

Dear Friends & Patriots —

If you’re anything like me, you’re mad as hell and you’re not going to take it anymore!

A nationwide tea bag protest is underway. We can capitalize on the publicity and powerful effect of this popular movement at our city, county & state levels, IF we act boldly and NOW.

RETCO (Redwood Empire Tax Committee) is the successor organization to the Irate Taxpayers Committee, which fought successfully alongside Howard Jarvis and Paul Gann to pass Prop 13.

As you know, Prop 13 has allowed many of us to stay in homes that otherwise would have been taxed out from under us!

But the tax and spend politicians and bureaucrats never give up.

They call taxes “fees,” as they continue to chip away at Prop 13’s protections. They establish “special assessment districts,” and expect us not to notice while they pretend those assessments aren’t taxes. They blame Prop 13 for every sort of government shortcoming, while failing to point out that Prop 13 protects new homeowners right along with the old — even helps protect renters from precipitous increases.

They are even attempting to charge “fees” on our wells and septic systems!

Most citizens have been inactive for too long. We’ve sat on the sidelines, while the tax & spenders are on the march, and it’s beginning to be more and more clear that only massive citizen protest can turn the tide.

It’s time to rejuvenate our tax resistance movement, and the tea bag protest provides the perfect opportunity to re-build our activities locally.

I’ve been appointed by RETCO’s outgoing president, Bill Pisenti, to temporarily succeed him, so I’ve set our first reorganizational meeting for this coming Thursday, April 2, from 5:00 to 6:30 PM, at the Union Hotel restaurant, 280 Mission Blvd, Rincon Valley. I’ll be there at 4:30 for early arrivals, & we’ll wrap up no later than 6:30. No charge for the meeting; dinner/snacks/drinks at your individual option.

I think you will agree that the teabag protests offer us an ideal opportunity to re-launch our Tax Committee. Maybe you have some equally good ideas? Let’s all share our good ideas and enthusiasm!

Please RSVP by  e-mail or telephone. And if you can think of anyone else who should attend, please pass on this invitation, and let me know who you invited.

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing you!

And Now, a Billion for the Food Police?

by Vin Suprynowicz
by Vin Suprynowicz

President Obama last week accused the Bush administration of creating a “hazard to public health” by failing to curb food contamination problems. Mr. Bush’s successor announced he will form a “Food Safety Working Group” to “upgrade our food safety laws for the 21st century.”

Money came up. The president will ask Congress for $1 billion in new funds – for starters – to add FDA inspectors and modernize laboratories. He further announced the Agriculture Department is moving ahead with a rule change banning sick or disabled cattle from the food supply.

“There are certain things only a government can do,” Mr. Obama said. “And one of those things is ensuring that the foods we eat, and the medicines we take, are safe and do not cause us harm.”

“Food safety” sounds like an issue everyone can get behind. Getting “downer cows” out of the food chain certainly sounds like a no-brainer. But in fact, the history of government regulation of food safety has been far from perfect. After all, no one shut down or even reduced the budget of the FDA, the USDA, and a score of other regulatory agencies in recent years. If “government is the answer,” why have there been recurrent problems? Furthermore, the assertion that “only government can do it” flies in the face of common sense.

Imagine you pull off the highway late in the evening in a strange part of the country. On one side of the exit rises a lighted sign for “Greasyburgers – locally owned and cheapest in town. Our last customer is now out of the hospital and doing fine.” (My apologies to the real “Greasyburgers,” should there prove to be one. This is intended to be a hypothetical example.)

On the other side of the exit you spot the familiar, lighted logo of McDonald’s, or Burger King, or Wendy’s. Which do you choose?

The adventurous are always free to try the locally owned eatery. But we all know the majority of motorists will choose the well-known brand name, not because the food is necessarily a gourmet delight, but because we realize that corporation has millions of dollars invested in a brand name, and thus a vested interest in protecting that brand by delivering a consistently wholesome product.

Should budget shortfalls require federal food regulatory agencies to shut down tomorrow, do we really believe manufacturers who have spent billions building up the reputations of things called “Cheerios” and “Campbell’s Soup” would immediately start ignoring the long-term costs of adding harmful adulterants to make better short-term profits tomorrow?

“Branding” is a free-market device, requiring government action only to protect the trademark, through which consumers reward providers with their repeat business for maintaining high standards. Most recent problems in the food chain have involved products which consumers could not readily identify by brand name. Maybe we need more “branding,” rather than less.

When we fail to recognize the brand, instinctively, despite a solid century of government “food safety regulation,” we don’t always act on the presumption: “Government regulators would already have shut down any eatery that was below par, so it’s equally safe to eat at Greasyburgers.”

Yes, the American public (whether or not their confidence is well placed) have long since accepted a role for government regulation in the food and medical supply chains. So long as they’re in the business, of course we want those jobs done as effectively as possible.

But it’s also fair to ask President Obama if part of his new food safety initiative will include HR 875, introduced by far-left Connecticut Democrat Rosa DeLauro, chairwoman of the Agriculture Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, whose husband, Stanley Greenberg, is a leading Democratic political strategist and consultant whose clients have included pesticide and fertilizer giant Monsanto. (Though both Mr. Greenberg’s outfit and Ms. DeLauro’s office tell me, rather insistently, that the Monsanto relationship ended a decade ago.)

Now, bills that start out overly broad are sometimes narrowed and improved during the hearing process – that’s what hearings are for. All the current Internet hyperventilating over Rep. DeLauro’s proposed “Food Police” may turn out to be a tad overblown.

Nonetheless, the bill does appear to define “food producers” so broadly as to invite suspicion that even a small, backyard gardener growing food for his or her own family – or for local sale at a roadside stand – would be subject to uniform federal regulations (enforced by state agricultural police) requiring pesticide use and so forth, all in the name of “public safety.”

Would HR 875 effectively ban seed banking and small-scale organic farming? Would it allow the Food Police to trespass on private property to “check our vegetables”? Would it mandate 24-hour GPS tracking of farm animals? Could lands and crops be seized for “non-compliance”?

A lot can be justified under the rubric of “food safety.” Do we really believe granting a monopoly to large-scale factory farms, with their standardized artificial fertilizers and pesticides, is safest for our health and nutritional needs in the long run?

As H.L. Mencken said, “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”

HR 875 The food police, criminalizing organic farming and the backyard gardener, and violation of the 10th amendment

 HR 875  http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/F?c111:1:./temp/~c1112RD9bb:e11439:

This bill is sitting in committee and I am not sure when it is going to hit the floor.  One thing I do know is that very few of the Representatives have read it.  As usual they will vote on this based on what someone else is saying.  Urge your members to read the legislation and ask for opposition to this devastating legislation.  Devastating for everyday folks but great for factory farming ops like Monsanto, ADM, Sodexo and Tyson to name a few.

I have no doubt that this legislation was heavily influenced by lobbyists from huge food producers.  This legislation is so broad based that technically someone with a little backyard garden could get fined and have their property siezed.   It will affect anyone who produces food even if they do not sell but only consume it.  It will literally put all independent farmers and food producers out of business due to the huge amounts of money it will take to conform to factory farming methods.  If people choose to farm without industry standards such as chemical pesticides and fertilizers they will be subject to a vareity of harassment from this completely new agency that has never before existed.  That’s right, a whole new government agency is being created just to police food, for our own protection of course.

DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT, READ THIS LEGISLATION FOR YOURSELF.  The more people who read this legislation the more insight we are going to get and be able to share.  Post your observations and insights below.  Urge your members to read this legislation and to oppose the passage of this legislation.

Pay special attention to

  • Section 3 which is the definitions portion of the bill-read in it’s entirety.
  • section 103, 206 and 207- read in it’s entirety.

Red flags I found and I am sure there are more………..

  • Legally binds state agriculture depts to enforcing federal guidelines effectively taking away the states power to do anything other than being food police for the federal dept.
  • Effectively criminalizes organic farming but doesn’t actually use the word organic.
  • Affects anyone growing food even if they are not selling it but consuming it.
  • Affects anyone producing meat of any kind including the processing wild game for personal consumption.
  • Legislation is so broad based that every aspect of growing or producing food can be made illegal.  There are no specifics which is bizarre considering how long the legislation is.
  • Section 103 is almost entirely about the administrative aspect of the legislation.  It will allow the appointing of officials from the factory farming corporations and lobbyists and classify them as experts and allow them to determine and interpret the legislation.  Who do you think they are going to side with?
  • Section 206 defines what will be considered a food production facility and what will be enforced up all food production facilities.  The wording is so broad based that a backyard gardener could be fined and more.
  • Section 207 requires that the state’s agriculture dept act as the food police and enforce the federal requirements.  This takes away the states power and is in violation of the 10th amendment.
  • There are many more but by the time I got this far in the legislation I was so alarmed that I wanted to bring someone’s attention to it. (to the one person who reads my blog)

Didn’t Stalin nationalize farming methods that enabled his administration to gain control over the food supply?  Didn’t Stalin use the food to control the people?

Last word…… Legislate religion and enforce gag orders on ministers on what can and can’t be said in the pulpit, instituting regulations forcing people to rely soley on the government, control the money and the food.  What is that called?  It is on the tip of my tongue……….

I haven’t read any of the Senate’s version of the bill as I have been poring thru the House’s version.  Here is the link and I hope some of you can take a look and post your observations and insights below.  One thing I am pretty sure of is that very few if any Senator’s have actually read the legislation and when it comes up for a vote they will more than likely take someone else’s word on how they should vote.  The other thing I am pretty sure about is that the legislation was probably written by lobbyists and industry experts.

S 425  http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:s425:

Things you can do

  1. Contact your members at 202-224-3121 and ask them to oppose HR 875 and S 425.  While you are at it ask them if they personally have read the legislation and what their position is? If they have not read the legislation ask them to read it and politely let them know that just because other representitives are not reading the legislation and voting on it does not mean they can do the same.
  2. Get in touch with local farmers and food producers by attending a local farmers market and asking them how business is.
  3. Attend a local WAPF meeting, this is a good start to learning about what is going on in farming and local & state initiatives .  The website is http://www.westonaprice.org/localchapters/index.html
  4. Check out the Farmers Legal Defense Fund at http://www.ftcldf.org/index.html
  5. Find out who sits on your states agriculture and farming committee and contact them with your concerns.
  6. Continue to contact your elected officials and let them know your position on legislation and why.
  7. Get active at the local and state levels, this is the quickest way to initiate change.

Who Is Arming the Mexican Drug Cartels?

by Michael Gaddy
by Michael Gaddy

The state, Mexican authorities and their US propaganda arm, known in most circles as the Mainstream Media, have recently embarked on a huge disinformation campaign to demonize the American gun owner as the supplier of weapons to the Mexican drug cartels. Everyone in the media, with the possible exception of Lou Dobbs, has joined in the campaign of lies.

Shown here, on a CBS special, is video proof of the lies and disinformation by CBS, US and Mexican authorities. Anderson Cooper and Janet Napolitano are either ignorant or complicit in the myth that M-203s, RPGs and hand grenades are readily available to the American gun consumer. Most intelligent folks, and those without a state sponsored agenda, realize these weapons are usually only available to the military.

This week, Secretary of Homeland Defense, Janet Napolitano, announced a new plan to curb the alleged flow of weapons from the US into Mexico. This program, which will cost the overwhelmed US Taxpayer another 700 million dollars plus, includes machines that employ what is referred to as “virtual strip search.” This plan will supposedly slow down the number of guns traveling south from the US to the drug cartels in Mexico. If this program has the same success rate as the government’s efforts at stopping the flow of contraband north into the US, the Mexican drug cartels will have nuclear weapons by the end of April!

While not stated as such, I am sure this will eventually morph into “the war on guns.” Funny, is it not, every time our government “declares war” on something, it always increases exponentially! Whether it is poverty, drugs, terrorism or guns, when the state declares war, rapid growth and expansion of that which is the object of that war is inevitable.

Napolitano stated, “70% of the weapons in the hands of the drug cartels are coming from the US.” The implication is obvious she is referring to private gun owners. The MSM sucks up this propaganda like a large-mouth bass takes a worm, and regurgitates it to Boobus without ever questioning the truthfulness behind the claim. Neither Mexican, nor US officials, has ever produced an ounce of proof to back up these wild accusations.

Wednesday, on MSNBC, in an interview by Andrea Mitchell, New York Congressional Representative, Nita Lowey stated 97% of the guns in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels originated in the US. Representative Lowey, in her support for a new Assault Weapons Ban, alleges these firearms are coming from the American gun owner. She is correct in her assertion many of the firearms being used by the cartels are coming from Americans. They are, but, from the American taxpayer, not the American gun owner!

The fact is: the Mexican authorities have refused to release the serial numbers of weapons confiscated from drug cartel members. Releasing the serial numbers would implicate the corrupt governments of the US and Mexico and their involvement in arming the drug cartels.

Considering the above, it is my belief the Mexican drug cartels are procuring a large percentage of weapons from the world’s largest supplier of these weapons: the United States government!

The type of weapons confiscated and the unwillingness of those involved to supply weapon serial numbers is a clear indicator.

Because of the “narco-wars,” the US government supplies the Mexican military with arms and training. The Mexican military has trained at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, and the arms budget from the US to Mexico is in the billions.

Drug profits realized from the sale of drugs in the US by Mexico’s violent drug cartels are estimated to be as high as 40 billion dollars per year. With that amount of money, is there any question as to the ability of the cartels to purchase military weapons provided by the United States government from corrupt Mexican government officials and members of their military?

In the mid 1990s, U.S. government statistics revealed at least six billion dollars a year was spent by the cartels in bribes and payoffs to officials in the Mexican government and military.

In February of 1997, the Clinton Administration announced it was certifying the Mexican government as a “full ally” in the war on drugs. Clinton’s Drug Czar, Army General Barry McCaffrey, described Mexican General Jesus Gutierrez Rebollo, who headed up the Mexican National Institute to Combat Drugs (INCD) as a “man of absolute unquestioned character.”(Emphasis added) Shortly after McCaffrey’s statement, Rebollo was arrested for taking bribes from one of the largest drug cartels in Mexico. Rebollo had been present at secret meetings involving the White House, the Central Intelligence Agency and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

When speaking of drug cartels and military weapons, one would be remiss in not covering the involvement of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and their decades-long involvement in worldwide drug trafficking. The evidence produced at the Iran Contra hearings proved the CIA was involved with smuggling cocaine in order to fund the Nicaraguan Contra Army. Is there any question they are involved with the Mexican drug cartels and perhaps facilitating their procurement of military weapons, or better yet, trading arms for drugs?

In 2007, then President George W. Bush, with help from Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, was able to get legislation passed that would provide Mexico with at least 1.4 billion dollars for Mexican military and police forces.

In May of 2008, Kristen Bricker wrote of Plan Mexico, “Plan Mexico will provide resources, equipment, and training to the Mexican government, police, and military. It will not give Mexico liquid funds. The US military, government agencies such as USAID, and US defense contractors such as mercenary firms and weapons manufacturers will receive funding to carry out Plan Mexico. Plan Mexico is yet another bill to line the pockets of the military industrial complex.”

Our government is certainly aware of the rampant corruption within the Mexican government and military, yet we continue to provide them with money, military weapons and training, including all of the military weapons mentioned earlier in this article and shown in film clips by the mainstream media as proof positive we need a new Assault Weapons Ban. (AWB)

Our corrupt government, cooperating with Mexico’s equally corrupt government, has embarked on a campaign to deprive American citizens of the means to defend ourselves from tyranny, screening their own involvement in arming violent criminal drug cartels. We can weakly submit, or stand for truth and liberty; the choice is ours.

SUCCESS AND MORE TREACHERY

By: Devvy
March 23, 2009

Today I am on my way to Washington, DC, so I won’t have another column for a couple of weeks. As we continue to wade through the continuing nightmare coming from the crooks and incompetent serving in Congress, let’s start with some good news.

Kentucky, March 19, 2009

“Five Clay County officials, including the circuit court judge, the county clerk, and election officers were arrested Thursday after they were indicted on federal charges accusing them of using corrupt tactics to obtain political power and personal gain.

“The 10-count indictment, unsealed Thursday, accused the defendants of a conspiracy from March 2002 until November 2006 that violated the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). RICO is a federal statute that prosecutors use to combat organized crime. The defendants were also indicted for extortion, mail fraud, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to injure voters’ rights and conspiracy to commit voter fraud.

“According to the indictment, these alleged criminal actions affected the outcome of federal, local, and state primary and general elections in 2002, 2004, and 2006. Clay County Clerk, Freddy Thompson, 45, allegedly provided money to election officers to be distributed by the officers to buy votes and he also instructed officers how to change votes at the voting machine.”

These fine upstanding citizens have been indicted for what I have personally waged war against since 1993: vote fraud and how easy it is to manipulate voting machines and scanners. Election officer William E. Stivers: among other charges against him: changed votes at the voting machine. Paul E. Bishop, is also accused of instructing the officers how to change votes at the voting machine. This is what blind loyalty to a political party does to people. When “my party” becomes more important than integrity, decency and honesty, America loses.

Hear! Hear!

This from Tommy Cryer, Founder of Truth Attack.org, dedicated to exposing the fraud being conducted against domestic Americans regarding misapplication of the Internal Revenue Code (federal income tax):

Florida Judge Rules Attorney Refusing to File Since 1999 Committed No crime

March 20, 2009. “After a trial of a hearing on a Florida Bar Association complaint alleging that Charles “Chuck” Behm, a Florida attorney, had violated bar rules by committing a criminal act by refusing to file federal income tax returns since 1999 Judge Tyree Boyer ruled that Behm committed no criminal act.

“The Florida Bar was obviously assisted by either DOJ, the IRS or both because its presentation, right down to including the standard name calling and the stale half truths was DOJ SOP. From opening statement to close the DOJ’s fingerprints were all over the case. The only new twist was DOJ’s latest slam against patriots, introducing a new name for what it calls anti-government groups like “tax protesters”, “tax defiers” and, now “Constitutionalists”!! (Behm’s defense attorney, TA’s Tom Cryer, had plenty to say about that in his response.)

“In his cross examination of the Bar’s “expert witness”, Cryer was able to force the witness to admit that he could not cite any specific authority making Behm liable for the income tax and that the absence of such a statute is not among the official list of “frivolous arguments”. The witness also admitted on cross that he did not really have a clear definition of “income”, that he knew of no lawful authority for the IRS’s “zero basis” policy applied only to working Americans’ gross receipts and that the zero basis for “zero basis” is not on the IRS’s list of “frivolous arguments.”

“Chuck Behm then testified that his research into the code and Supreme Court authorities forced him to conclude that he is not liable for the federal income tax and, therefore, not among those required to file returns; that he had no income within the meaning of the Constitution and the Sixteenth Amendment and that he is engaging in no activity that is within the federal government’s power to tax. Chuck was very thorough and precise in describing his research and the authorities, making a very clear and convincing account of his command of the subject.

“In her closing, the Bar Counsel argued that people depend upon attorneys to set an example by following and supporting the government and its laws. Cryer rebutted that argument by contending that people do not depend on attorneys to support the government, but to support the Constitution, to protect their rights and to stand up to the government when it abuses either.

“Judge Boyer ruled that Behm had committed no criminal act by refusing to file federal income taxes, but the case is far from over. He also ruled that the failure to file was unlawful although he could give no specific basis for that finding. Now the case goes to the Florida Supreme Court for its ruling and in that process the Court will be challenged to show what law subjects Behm to liability and, hence, a lawful duty to file returns and pay income taxes.”

These are America’s warriors. They are on the front lines fighting for not only their freedom, but yours and mine. For those unfamiliar with this issue, I respectfully urge you to find out the truth and I direct you here:

Why An Income Tax Is Not Necessary to Fund the Federal Government, Free on audio or text
Beware alternative taxing schemes: they’re just another trap

My friend, Anthony LoBaido, has come up with the perfect slogan for Congress: “I don’t read the bills, but I do weight them.” While funny, it’s also a crime against we the people for any elected public servant to vote on any legislation they haven’t read that affects our lives. In the House, you can lay most of the blame at the feet of a dangerous lunatic, Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. You know that name, don’t you? She’s the mega millionaire who called enforcing immigration laws anti-American; click here. Since Pelosi is openly giving her approval to violate federal immigration laws and encourage illegal aliens to remain in this country, I think Pelosi should be arrested and tossed in jail.

The usurper in the Red House, Barack Hussein Obama aka Barry Soetoro aka and so forth, is equally brain addled or he’s still doing the nose candy (cocaine): March 20, 2009 headline: Obama wants citizenship for ‘law-abiding illegals’ — Huh? How can an illegal alien, you know, the criminal who smuggles his/her body across our borders like a thief in the night be a “law abiding” anything? While these two craven politicians were busy protecting criminals, two more Americans were murdered by an illegal alien from Mexico; click here.

Communist propaganda wrapped in the American flag

A thousand people send me an enthusiastic, “Watch this!” link to a video titled, Born Again American. You can watch it here. Unfortunately, when you actually read the fine print, they are an initiative of ‘Declare Yourself.’ When you go there and hit on issues, my, my. You go straight to Change.org promoting:

Stop global warming
Homosexual “rights”
Animal Rights
Universal Health Care
Global Health

And lots more goodies. This is how the communitarian doctrine (communist morality) snags the uninformed. Always look behind the curtain. This promotion of communist goals is led by leftist icon, Norman Lear. If you would like some factual history on this issue, read, Funny How Things Jog Your Memory. I know this country is drowning in ‘March Madness’ and other distractions, but only by becoming educated with the facts can we repel those pushing their toxic agenda.

You’re not alone

The cry for freedom and liberty is spreading across this great land. Let us hope that the ‘tea parties’ going on will become much more than just a one time “protest.” Eternal vigilance as we know is the only thing that will beat back tyranny. I know many Americans feel isolated. They don’t know who is a patriot in their area; they don’t know how to get involved. Well, a couple of enterprising Americans have come up with a way to make your statement: Liberty Bands. Wear one and you’ll see how quickly you find other like minded people in your area. I know, someone is going to say, “Well, if you wear this fashionable accessory, the govmint is gonna know who you are.” Gee whiz, golly. Since when should we the people be ashamed to be a patriot? Since when should we the people be ashamed to let our fellow Americans know we stand for the U.S. Constitution and everything that made this country great? Not me. Look into the Liberty Bands. You just might like one.

Orly goes to Washington

Dr. Orly Taitz, the lioness who won’t be stopped in her efforts regarding the legitimacy of Obama aka Soetoro aka and so forth, is in Washington, DC, today with Joseph Farah, Founder of Worldnetdaily.com. Orly is there in her on-going effort to get a full scale FBI investigation into the shenanigans at the U.S. Supreme Court and pursuing a Quo Warranto. The situation is very fluid, so you might want to check her web site daily.

The state owning your children

Obama announces his newest communist “reconstruction of man” obamaination: Ownership of YOUR child from infant to age five wrapped up in “mother government cares.” March 17, 2009. “Zero to Five Plan doesn’t add up.” Another “voluntary” program just like voluntary social security and the voluntary National ID.

AIG bonuses – between idiocy and the U.S. Constitution

Everyone is outraged over the AIG “bail out” mess. $45 BILLION of the loot has gone to banks overseas. Grand larceny of the people’s empty purse. In order to deflect their own culpability in this monstrous mess, high profile members of Congress are attempting to distract you with bills over the bonuses that will ultimately result in nothing but endless lawsuits. First, these bonuses are employment contracts, some entered into years ago. The House has passed legislation in an attempt to get back these bonuses. Ex post facto laws are prohibited by the Constitution. These buffoons are also trying to pass a bill that would tax those bonuses at a 90% rate. Take that! This is what is called a Bill of Attainder and it is also prohibited by the Constitution. However, law experts are already saying the Supreme Court will uphold such a tax! Another mess created by Congress and the usurper in the Red House because he signed those bills.

Economic outlook: ‘We’re in a car heading for a cliff and the Fed has just stepped on the gas.’ — Peter Schiff, economist

It’s not bleak, it’s toast. There is no way to sugar coat what has been happening and what will continue for sometime. I could put a thousand links to columns on this issue, but have selected this one by Peter Schiff. Like Congressman Ron Paul, this man has made the predictions that are now coming true. Hyper inflation is going to hit this country. I’m not a gold dealer; I don’t sell gold, but as Schiff says at the end of this column, Got Gold? This is a tragedy unfolding and the dollar may not survive this time. Get gold. It is the only true money.

As I won’t have a new column until the second week of April, I hope the links below will prove helpful as we continue to beat back tyranny and face the real consequences of the reckless spending of Congresses for the past half century as well as other issues.

The ‘GIVE’ Act Calls for Your Kids to be ‘Owned’ by the State

by Michael Gallucci
by Michael Gallucci

“We should be owned, as soldiers are by the army, and our pride would rise accordingly.” ~ William James, The Moral Equivalent of War

The quote above is taken from an essay that The Corporation for National and Community Service (www.nationalservice.org) takes as one of its founding documents. What is the CNCS you may ask? We’ll be getting to that. First let’s take a gander at the latest statist scribblings to come forth from the horde in Congress, the GIVE Act H.R.1388:

PART III – INNOVATIVE DEMONSTRATION SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAMS AND RESEARCH

SEC. 120. INNOVATIVE DEMONSTRATION SERVICE-LEARNING PROGRAMS AND RESEARCH.

(2) YOUTH ENGAGEMENT ZONE – The term youth engagement zone means the area in which a youth engagement zone program is carried out.

(3) YOUTH ENGAGEMENT ZONE PROGRAM – The term youth engagement zone program means a service learning program in which members of an eligible partnership described in paragraph (4) collaborate to provide coordinated school-based or community-based service learning opportunities, to address a specific community challenge, for an increasing percentage of out-of-school youth and secondary school students served by local educational agencies where –

(A) not less than 90 percent of the students participate in service-learning activities as part of the program; or

(B) service-learning is a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.

There is much more in statist scribbling, but the first question that should come to the mind of any thinking parent is, “What exactly is service-learning, and why should it be mandatory in public-statist schools?”

At the National Service Learning Clearinghouse website at www.servicelearning.org, you can read the glossy euphemistic “What is Service Learning?” page for its glorious “Guiding Principles” and its exalted “Vision of the Organization.” Or, you can dig deeper. Dig deeper, why don’t you? After all, this is about the souls of your children. National Service Learning Clearinghouse is simply one of many operative appendages of The Corporation for National and Community Service. Finding its founding principles would divulge much more than the NSLC’s bulleted list of glossy euphemisms.

“The mission of the Corporation for National and Community Service is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.” That’s pretty, yes? But more importantly, look at the National Service Timeline page to begin to get into the genetics of the matter:

National Service Timeline

Read about the history of national service – from the creation of the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1933 to the launch of the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2003. This timeline provides a quick glance at key dates and milestones during the past century.

1903
The Cooperative Education Movement is founded at the University of Cincinnati.

Circa 1905
American philosophers William James and John Dewey develop intellectual foundations for service-based learning.

1910
American philosopher William James envisions non-military national service in his essay “The Moral Equivalent War”

“The Moral Equivalent of War” essay is an allegedly monumental ditty, and a founding building block for the concept of “service learning,” as it is embodied in today’s NCSC and the GIVE Act. As a matter of fact, the NCSC cheerfully lists the GIVE Act as one of their legislative achievements right on their home page. In other places, the essay is claimed to be “based on a speech delivered at Stanford University in 1906, is the origin of the idea of organized national service. The line of descent runs directly from this address to the depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps to the Peace Corps, VISTA, and AmeriCorps.” AmeriCorps is what the GIVE Act seeks to enlarge and further empower.

So what of William James and his mighty essay? Like all else Mr. James gave birth to with his cumbrous brain, it is quite pointy headed and longwinded. It can be read in full by the interested at www.des.emory.edu/mfp/moral.html. But here’s the gist of it for the less than interested; “War is hideous and must come to an end some day. But we can’t be wimps about it, because the brutes among us insist it is an essential part of being a true man. War is hideous in all but one respect. It is really good at kicking the childishness out of people. It is really good for organizing and centralizing. I think we need to create pseudo-wars where people don’t die, so we can use this positive element of war to help us centralize power in the hands of the unbrutish, like myself, for the good of all mankind.” That really is about it. This rather juvenile concept is more fully documented in such books as Johan Goldberg’s Liberal Fascism.

We are full to the gills with these pseudo-wars in this liberal-socialist American society we presently live in, are we not? As Mr. James says in this article, H.G. Wells puts it best:

“In many ways military organization is the most peaceful of activities. When the contemporary man steps from the street, of clamorous insincere advertisement, push, adulteration, underselling and intermittent employment into the barrack-yard, he steps on to a higher social plane, into an atmosphere of service and cooperation and of infinitely more honorable emulations. Here at least men are not flung out of employment to degenerate because there is no immediate work for them to do. They are fed a drilling and training for better services. Here at least a man is supposed to win promotion by self-forgetfulness and not by self-seeking. And beside the feeble and irregular endowment of research by commercialism, its little shortsighted snatches at profit by innovation and scientific economy, see how remarkable is the steady and rapid development of method and appliances in naval and military affairs! Nothing is more striking than to compare the progress of civil conveniences which has been left almost entirely to the trader, to the progress in military apparatus during the last few decades. The house-appliances of today, for example, are little better than they were fifty years ago. A house of today is still almost as ill-ventilated, badly heated by wasteful fires, clumsily arranged and furnished as the house of 1858. Houses a couple of hundred years old are still satisfactory places of residence, so little have our standards risen. But the rifle or battleship of fifty years ago was beyond all comparison inferior to those we now possess; in power, in speed, in convenience alike. No one has a use now for such superannuated things.”

This alone is beneficial from war for the pointy headed cowards. Not that war is ever a self-sacrificial endeavor to save other human beings from servitude or death at the hands of tyranny. True, very often that is not the case, but sometimes it is. The disembodied concept of war though is much more about being “drilled and trained for better services.” So all one needs is to be “drilled and trained” without the war, and then one may magically possess “martial virtues.” The militarized person is then groomed to carry out the collective minded “better services” envisioned by the liberal-socialist elite their entire lives. Just that simpleminded, just that juvenile.

Cutting through the billows of hot air, Mr. James eventually felt the need to make his case clear:

“This is my idea – there were, instead of military conscription, a conscription of the whole youthful population to form for a certain number of years a part of the army enlisted against Nature…”

What is meant by this army “against Nature?” The “Nature” here would be man’s seeming innate and undying urge to be a bloodthirsty brute, seeking barbaric conquest and loot, or the implementation of his illusory concept of “good” by force. The operative thought here though, that which is foundational to the NCSC and the GIVE Act, is the “conscription of the whole youthful population to form for a certain number of years.” Certainly the concepts of “good” put forth by non-brutish statists would be more worthy of the service of the entire youth, than those of the brutish statist? This idea of “the conscription of the whole youthful population” is nothing new to the world outside our American window. This concept was brought here from Germany by the likes of James and Dewey, who suckled many a year at Germany’s academic teat. Look how wonderfully it played out in Germany, remember? This is unnatural to the root of the American tree though.

What else does the exalted and cumbrous brain of Mr. James have to offer in this article?

“All these beliefs of mine put me firmly into the anti-military party. But I do not believe that peace either ought to be or will be permanent on this globe, unless the states, pacifically organized, preserve some of the old elements of army-discipline. A permanently successful peace-economy cannot be a simple pleasure-economy. In the more or less socialistic future toward which mankind seems drifting we must still subject ourselves collectively to those severities which answer to our real position upon this only partly hospitable globe. We must make new energies and hardihoods continue the manliness to which the military mind so faithfully clings. Martial virtues must be the enduring cement; intrepidity, contempt of softness, surrender of private interest, obedience to command, must still remain the rock upon which states are built.”

The pseudo-wars that need to be created and engaged in, in order to instill the pseudo “martial virtues” in our youth, are an essential part of continuing and expediting “the more or less socialistic future toward which mankind seems drifting.” “We must still subject ourselves collectively” he claims, in order to “make new energies and hardihoods continue the manliness … intrepidity, contempt of softness, surrender of private interest, obedience to command, must still remain the rock upon which states are built.” This is what the socialist state of a Mr. James is built on, and this is what the youth need mandatory grooming for, through such means as the “educational” instrument embodied in the likes of a GIVE Act.

Yet more from the statist brain of Mr. James:

“The war-party is assuredly right in affirming and reaffirming that the martial virtues, although originally gained by the race through war, are absolute and permanent human goods. Patriotic pride and ambition in their military form are, after all, only specifications of a more general competitive passion. They are its first form, but that is no reason for supposing them to be its last form. Men are now proud of belonging to a conquering nation, and without a murmur they lay down their persons and their wealth, if by so doing they may fend off subjection. But who can be sure that other aspects of one’s country may not, with time and education and suggestion enough, come to be regarded with similarly effective feelings of pride and shame?”

These “martial virtues” are effective in brutish war and all, “but that is no reason for supposing them to be its last form,” that is, all they are good for. “But who can be sure that other aspects of one’s country may not, with time and education and suggestion enough, come to be regarded with similarly effective feelings of pride and shame,” as they do in actual brutish military service?

But how does one instill these “martial virtues” otherwise, Mr. James queries himself:

“It is only a question of blowing on the spark until the whole population gets incandescent, and on the ruins of the old morals of military honor, a stable system of morals of civic honor builds itself up. What the whole community comes to believe in grasps the individual as in a vise. The war-function has grasped us so far; but the constructive interests may some day seem no less imperative, and impose on the individual a hardly lighter burden. Let me illustrate my idea more concretely…and this is my idea – there were, instead of military conscription, a conscription of the whole youthful population to form for a certain number of years a part of the army enlisted against Nature, the injustice would tend to be evened out, and numerous other goods to the commonwealth would remain blind as the luxurious classes now are blind, to man’s relations to the globe he lives on, and to the permanently sour and hard foundations of his higher life.”

If you read this essay in full, you would see that the “injustice which would tend to be evened out” by the service-learning programs for which “the conscription of the whole youthful population” is called for, is nothing other than those pesky inequalities between the socialist’s concept of classes. The standard class warfare socialist swill. These pseudo-wars that need to be a mandatory part of all public-statist school curriculum is nothing other than the age-old Marxist yelp of “he has more stuff than him. I must rectify this.” As stated above, it is essential to “the more or less socialistic future toward which mankind seems drifting,” that the teaching of class warfare be mandatory.

The magnanimous pontificator continues:

“To coal and iron mines, to freight trains, to fishing fleets in December, to dishwashing, clotheswashing, and windowwashing, to road-building and tunnel-making, to foundries and stoke-holes, and to the frames of skyscrapers, would our gilded youths be drafted off, according to their choice, to get the childishness knocked out of them, and to come back into society with healthier sympathies and soberer ideas. They would have paid their blood-tax, done their own part in the immemorial human warfare against nature; they would tread the earth more proudly, the women would value them more highly, they would be better fathers and teachers of the following generation. Such a conscription, with the state of public opinion that would have required it, and the many moral fruits it would bear, would preserve in the midst of a pacific civilization the manly virtues which the military party is so afraid of seeing disappear in peace. We should get toughness without callousness, authority with as little criminal cruelty as possible, and painful work done cheerily because the duty is temporary, and threatens not, as now, to degrade the whole remainder of one’s life.”

The “nature” of real brutish warfare is nothing other than the plundering of the have-nots by the haves, as Mr. James and his ilk would have it. The youth must be taught to war against this anti-collectivist and brutish “nature.” It is only then that they can be proud of themselves and their society, when they have learned to war against this realest of “injustices,” when they have mandatorily volunteered, as the GIVE Act would have it, to serve the oppressed peoples.

Mr. James goes on and on:

“I spoke of the “moral equivalent” of war. So far, war has been the only force that can discipline a whole community, and until and equivalent discipline is organized, I believe that war must have its way. But I have no serious doubt that the ordinary prides and shames of social man, once developed to a certain intensity, are capable of organizing such a moral equivalent as I have sketched, or some other just as effective for preserving manliness of type. It is but a question of time, of skillful propagandism, and of opinion-making men seizing historic opportunities.”

The “moral equivalent of war” is nothing other than socialist class warfare. The “equivalent discipline that needs to be organized” is further unveiled in the GIVE Act. This act is not only the fruition of the foundation laid by Mr. James, but also the embodiment of plans announced by both Barrack Obama, and his Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel. Plans to have “a civilian national security force.” In July 2008 Obama stated (and repeated many times before and since) “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.” His Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, stated his intention to help create “universal civil defense training” in 2006. Despite denials from the Obama administration about specific plans to institute a mandatory program of national service, his original Change.gov website stated that Americans would be “required” to complete “50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.” The text was only later changed to state that Americans would be “encouraged” to undertake such programs. This of course would be an example of the “skillful propagandism of opinion-making men seizing historic opportunities.” We’ve heard much about seizing the “historic opportunities” that emerge out of crisis lately, haven’t we? According to the statists that crafted the GIVE Act, and all the preceding legislation and agencies that led to its birthing, the “question of time” proposed by Mr. James is now being answered.

A bit more of Mr. James will suffice:

“The martial type of character can be bred without war…Priests and medical men are in a fashion educated to it, and we should all feel some degree of its imperative if we were conscious of our work as an obligatory service to the state. We should be owned, as soldiers are by the army, and our pride would rise accordingly…The only thing needed henceforward is to inflame the civic temper as part history has inflamed the military temper … H.G. Wells adds that he thinks that the conceptions of order and discipline, the tradition of service and devotion, of physical fitness, unstinted exertion, and universal responsibility, which universal military duty is now teaching European nations, will remain a permanent acquisition when the last ammunition has been used in the fireworks that celebrate the final peace. I believe as he does. It would be simply preposterous if the only force that could work ideals of honor and standards of efficiency into English or American natures should be the fear of being killed by the Germans or the Japanese. Great indeed is Fear; but it is not, as our military enthusiasts believe and try to make us believe, the only stimulus known for awakening the higher ranges of men’s spiritual energy.”

“We should be owned, as soldiers are by the army?” “Owned” is pregnant with visions of involuntary servitude, is it not? The further you delve into this brain spewing of Mr. James, the concept of “temporary” seems to evaporate. Nevertheless, being “owned,” either temporarily or permanently, is still involuntary servitude. Notice again, the necessity to “inflame the civic temper,” to “blowing on the spark until the whole population gets incandescent,” through means of “skilful propagandism of opinion-making men.” All of this points to the unnatural, the artificial, the fabricated nature of the entirety of what the statist mind puts out as truth. Such are the minds of the Jameses, the Deweys, the Obamas, the Emmanuels. They are unnatural, artificial, fake, deceptive, in a word…lying. That they can state their lies articulately and eloquently does not make them not lies. It does though make them Orwellian unlies.

Under section 6104 of the GIVE Act, entitled Duties, in subsection B6, the legislation states that a commission will be set up to investigate whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges.

One may ask, “What’s the big deal about kids doing some good for their community?” There is one very simple answer for this…”What’s the big deal with your kids being OWNED by an omnipotent government?” What a wonderful example of its delights the Germans and their drilled and trained wunderkinder left us? Mandatory involuntary service shall set us all free!

MY COMMENTS: National citizenship gave us Federal Income Taxes (aka theft) and now this new and improved form of slavery.  How does it feel being owned? By the way this new legislation doesn’t really do it. It has already been done.  Proof is on your pay stub. See all those deductions?  That is legal proof that someone other than you owns your labor. That is why you already have a slave number.  The state needs to keep track of its property.

ALSO – I think this HAS VERY LITTLE to do with Obama.  We would be seeing the same thing or something VERY similar if McCain or the Cookie Monster were “voted” in as POTUS.  All the crap (I mean laws) that were implemented since the time of the great statist Lincoln has led to this and might lead to even worse things if we do not stop it now.  Stopping this is the difficult part.  I called Frankenstein and Boxhead and got my 2 cents in about S277, but neither office person knew how were they were going to vote.

The Senate last night rubber stamped a nightmare domestic draft bill that legislates mandatory national service and creates an “army” of at least 7 million civilian enforcers working at the the behest of the government, while also containing language that threatens to ban free speech and the right to protest.

Last week, we reported on the House passage of the Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, known as the GIVE Act, which was carried with a 321-105 margin vote.

A passage contained in section 6104 of the original House version entitled “Duties,” in subsection B6, states that a commission will be set up to investigate, “Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed.” This language has been dropped from the version passed by the Senate.

However, Section 120 of the bill discusses the “Youth Engagement Zone Program” and states that “service learning” will be “a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency.” This part remains in the version passed by the Senate.

Roles which will be staffed by members of the programs, labeled “Required National Service Corps,” include “criminal justice,” “environmental stewardship,” and “public safety”.

Aside from the programs aimed at college students and young people, others will be specifically targeted towards, “Retired and other former law enforcement, fire, rescue, and emergency personnel, and other individuals with backgrounds in disaster preparedness, relief, and recovery.”

The bill was rubber stamped by the Senate last night in a 74 to 14 motion, in what is described as a “procedural vote,” a move that creates “An army dispersed to help with education, health services and the environment, (which) would vastly enlarge the notion of “community organizing,” and allow, as Senator Barbara Mikulski, Democrat of Maryland, said tonight, for about 7 million people to be engaged in such work,” reports the New York Times.

The Senate will meet tomorrow morning to formally ratify the bill and finalize amendments. Call your Senator and demand that at least the mandatory language contained in this bill be removed.

References to the program as the creation of a civilian “army” have dominated mainstream news coverage of the legislation.

7 million members of this civilian “army” equates to about one member for every 50 Americans, a similar figure to the number of East Germans who collaborated with the Stasi and informed on their own citizens during the cold war.

The GIVE Act is just one of many pieces of legislation that vastly expand service organizations in line with Obama’s agenda to create a “national civilian security force”.

In January we also reported on the introduction by the Department of Defense of a “civilian expeditionary workforce” that will see American civilians trained and equipped to deploy overseas in support of worldwide military missions.

The DoD report states, “Management retains the authority to direct and assign civilian employees, either voluntarily, involuntarily, or on an unexpected basis to accomplish the DoD mission.”

Though the civilian expeditionary workforce program is restricted to DoD employees, similar programs have already been established for public sector workers.
One such program has seen hundreds of police, firefighters, paramedics and utility workers recently trained and dispatched as “Terrorism Liaison Officers” in Colorado, Arizona and California to watch for “suspicious activity” which is later fed into a secret government database.
Similar initiatives have been introduced in other western countries, including recently in the UK with the announcement that MI5 is currently training up to 60,000 UK citizens as part a civilian network of terrorist spotters, according to Prime Minister Gordon Brown and home secretary, Jacqui Smith.

In addition, Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, publicly stated his intention to help create “universal civil defense training” in 2006.

In an interview with Ben Smith of the New York Daily News, Emanuel outlined the agenda for military-style training, essentially a domestic draft, aimed at preparing Americans for a chemical or biological terrorist attack.

Asked by Smith about the universal service plan and whether people would have to live in military barracks, Emanuel laughed before responding, “We’re going to have universal civil defense training, somewhere between the ages of 18 to 25 you will do three months of training….but there can be nothing wrong with all Americans having a joint similar experience of what we call civil defense training or civil service in service of the country, in preparation, which will give people a sense of what it means to be an American.”

“It will be a common experience and we will be prepared, God forbid, God forbid that there is a chemical hit, another terrorist act or natural disaster becoming more frequent – there’ll be a body of citizens who are ready and capable and trained – that’s all you have to think about,” said Emanuel before smugly declaring, “We’re all here for you OK? It’s a circle of love.”

Asked if the training would be military style, with people wearing uniforms, Emanuel stated, “If you’re worried about are you going to have to do 50 jumping jacks the answer is yes,” adding that the service could be done through state national guard.

Shockingly, the GIVE legislation also contains language that could completely demolish the 1st amendment.

The 12th amendment to the act states, “Amendment to prohibit organizations from attempting to influence legislation; organize or engage in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes; and assist, promote, or deter union organizing.”

As Gary Wood writes, “Those in support of this legislation will argue this amendment is limited in scope and is not meant to interfere with the rights of citizens to protest, petition, boycott, or strike in resistance to government proposed laws. However, the people associated through service under the GIVE Act are considered volunteers, still free citizens, yet it will be unlawful for them to take part in any protests against any legislation. This is as close to a sedition act, a violation of 1st Amendment rights, as has been proposed in recent history. A basic right as a part of our natural, inalienable rights, is to resist government. Our founders not only knew it was a right but it was a responsibility. This legislation begins to break that down significantly.”

Fears about Obama’s plans to create involuntary servitude and domestic spy squads were first stoked in July 2008, when Obama told a rally in Colorado Springs, “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that is just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.”

Despite denials that Obama plans to institute a mandatory program of national service, his original change.gov website stated that Americans would be “required” to complete “50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year”. The text was only later changed to state that Americans would be “encouraged” to undertake such programs.

Numerous other national service bills have been introduced which target everyone from schoolchildren to the elderly. They include the Service For All Ages Initiative, the Summer of Service Act, the Semester of Service Act, the Encore Service Act and the ACTION Act.

Regarding the GIVE Act, “The bill’s opponents — and there are only a few in Congress — say it could cram ideology down the throats of young “volunteers,” many of whom could be forced into service since the bill creates a “Congressional Commission on Civic Service,” reports Fox.

“We contribute our time and money under no government coercion on a scale the rest of the world doesn’t emulate and probably can’t imagine,” said Luke Sheahan, contributing editor for the Family Security Foundation. “The idea that government should order its people to perform acts of charity is contrary to the idea of charity and it removes the responsibility for charity from the people to the government, destroying private initiative.”

Lee Cary of the conservative American Thinker warns that Obama’s agenda is to, “tap into the already active volunteerism of millions of Americans and recruit them to become cogs in a gigantic government machine grinding out his social re-engineering agenda.”

The passage of such shocking legislation with barely a whimper from political activist groups goes to show how well the corporate media has performed in camouflaging the legislation with flowery characterizations of helpful volunteerism, when in reality the bill creates the pretext for mandatory national service and the creation of a multi-million man domestic civil defense unit who will be tasked with spying on their fellow Americans under the justification of protecting the country from terrorism.
